Our Volunteer Journey with Working Wardrobes

As a company whose lifetime slogan is “Transactions that Give,” Agapay helps spread the culture of giving through the volunteer work that we do every month. We are highly committed on this mission that we already contributed over 100 hours of volunteer time to over 10 nonprofits since we started out in 2012.

Last month, for example, our US team has been spending the weekends doing as much volunteer work as we could. One of the organizations we’ve partnered with is Working Wardrobes, an independent non-profit organization based in Irvine, California.

About Working Wardrobes

Working Wardrobes focuses on men, women, young adults, and veterans who needed help to be integrated back into society. These groups of people have diverse backgrounds that include welfare-to-work, alcohol and substance abuse, domestic violence, transitional homelessness, and traumatic financial losses.

The organization’s goal is to empower them to be able to get jobs and be self-sufficient. To do this, they help build back the clients’ confidence and resilience through career readiness and life skills workshops, assessments, career development services, job placement assistance, and professional wardrobes.

With help from their corporate partners and volunteers, the organization has already helped more than 85,000 future employees in the country. Committed as they are to reach more in need, it has also built social enterprises, The Hanger Consignment Resale boutiques and Working Wardrobes Resale shops, that directly benefit the organization’s programs and services at a rate of 90 cents per every dollar spent in store.

Volunteering for Working Wardrobes

As a long-standing supporter of Working Wardrobes, the US team of (change to “at”) Agapay has already volunteered twice in the organization, primarily in its warehouse.

Last month, our team has been busy with sorting out the donated clothes and preparing them to send out to resale shops and events.

Before that, we also helped with the organization’s garage sale, their “last-chance” opportunity to sell out all donations that weren’t purchased at its resale shops.

It gives a great sense of accomplishment when you know you have spent your time supporting an organization that helps many individuals regain their lives.

How can you help?

There are mainly three ways to help Working Wardrobes further their mission. You can do so by:

  • Donate. Your contribution will surely go a long way in helping those who need it. Details about how you can donate to Working Wardrobes can be found here.
  • Shop. The organization has many retail stores that can be found in Orange County or online. Learn more about that here.
